Rubber End Caps

Custom rubber end caps made to sample: protect tube/shaft ends, reduce impact, limit dust. Material, hardness & size on request

Rubber End Caps

Rubber end caps are technical rubber parts used to cap and protect component ends while providing an impact-buffering contact point during transportation, storage, assembly, or operation. This product is manufactured based on the customer’s physical sample, with material, hardness, and dimensions customized to match real installation conditions.

Key highlights

  • Made to sample for accurate fit and intended function.
  • Protects surfaces while helping reduce noise and vibration at contact points.
  • Optional tab/rib features can be added for alignment, better grip, or quick removal (upon request).

Functions

  • Surface protection for component ends
    • Helps prevent scratches, coating damage, plating marks, and edge chipping on tube ends, shafts, or exposed fasteners during handling and moving.
  • Dust and debris shielding
    • Reduces dust, metal chips, sand, and foreign particles reaching sensitive end areas or mating zones (sealing level depends on the interference/fit design).
  • Impact, vibration, and noise reduction
    • Absorbs minor impacts and helps reduce “metal-to-metal” knocking noise at repeated contact points.
  • Safer handling
    • Covers protruding ends and sharp edges to reduce the risk of hand injuries, glove tears, or accidental scuffs to nearby surfaces.

Typical applications

  • Protecting tube ends, frames, and structural profiles
    • Machine frames, equipment legs, welded structures, racks, and industrial fixtures where appearance protection and noise reduction are needed.
  • Capping exposed shafts, rods, studs, bolts, and fasteners
    • Protection during storage, packing, shipping, or while waiting for final assembly.
  • Buffer/stopper points for doors, covers, cabinets, and sliding mechanisms
    • Reduces closing impact, helps limit denting/noise, and protects contact surfaces.
  • Temporary protection during installation and maintenance
    • Temporary capping of tube ends or openings to help prevent dust/debris ingress while work is in progress.

Material and hardness options (selected by environment)

Depending on the working conditions, common material options include:

  • NBR: preferred for oil/grease and fuel exposure.
  • EPDM: preferred for outdoor use, ozone/weathering, and hot water (not recommended for oils).
  • CR (Neoprene): good general industrial rubber with decent weathering/ozone resistance.
  • Silicone: suitable for high temperature and clean applications.
  • NR/SBR: cost-effective option for general cushioning needs.
  • FKM: for demanding chemical/oil resistance and elevated temperature.

Hardness is typically selected based on whether the priority is “secure capping” or “impact buffering.” ATT can advise to balance holding force, flexibility, and durability.

What to provide for a quick quotation

  • Physical sample or drawing (installation/fit dimensions are most important).
  • Working environment: oils, outdoor exposure, operating temperature, chemicals, etc.
  • Requirements for hardness, color, and appearance (allowed flash, surface finish, etc.).
  • Estimated quantity: prototype/small batch or mass production.

Quality control (reference)

  • Visual inspection: porosity, cracks, flash, parting line mismatch, deformation.
  • Dimensional check: key fit dimensions per sample/drawing.
  • Shore A hardness per batch.
  • Fit trial: holding performance, insertion/removal force.
  • Environment tests when required: oil immersion (NBR), heat aging, ozone aging (EPDM/CR), compression set for long-term buffering points.

Custom manufacturing workflow

  • Receive sample/drawing → material & hardness consultation
  • Prototype sampling → fit and appearance approval
  • Finalize specifications → mass production → batch delivery
